Retreats and Experiences

Retreats are a great way to take time out of your day to day life and give back to yourself. Tom's retreats are focused on experiences that play a vital role in personal growth and wellbeing. They serve as an amazing complement to coaching or a great stand alone option. They provide ways to access a sense of balance, wholeness, and to the entirety of our being, enabling us to overcome struggles, answer deeper questions, and live life to the fullest.

By engaging in diverse experiences such as mindful movement, nature connection, trekking, adventure, camping, soundbaths, and meditation, we can enrich our lives and gain new perspectives to support our personal or professional growth. The tranquillity of the outdoors provides a perfect backdrop for introspection, allowing us to connect with our inner self and gain clarity on life's priorities.

These experiences and practices offer us to access our deeper self for rest, recovery and relaxation as well as the chance to gain powerful insights into our life. They can provide powerful support in our high intensity modern world.

Connecting with nature: provides numerous psychological benefits, promoting a sense of balance and well-being.

Trekking: offers a unique blend of physical challenge and rejuvenation. As we navigate through the mountains, we not only build physical stamina but also cultivate resilience and adaptability.

Soundbaths: use various healing instruments, such as singing bowls, gongs, and chimes, to create soothing vibrations that encourage relaxation and introspection.

Meditation: is a practice that cultivates mindfulness and mental focus, helping individuals gain clarity and peace in our thoughts and emotions.

Mindful movement: is based on ancient practices which help balance the body, mind, and spirit. By working with the body, breath and mind, mindful movement fosters a sense of inner harmony and wellbeing.

Teaching and coaching: can be important aspects of these retreats. Depending on the retreat structure and focus, there may be sessions and workshops to help you develop a deeper conceptual understanding of important topics, and to have group or one to one coaching to support your journey.

Upcoming Retreats:

Navigating Life’s Transitions – Through the Medicine Wheel of Life

December 15, 2023 to December 17, 2023

at New Life Portugal

People circle grass from above

This retreat is for you if :

  • You want to re-evaluate how you currently approach life and work in safe and supportive space.

  • You are going through a transitional phase in life and are looking for some tools to help you reflect and assess your approach, and what’s next.

  • You want to take time out to reflect on how you show up.

  • You want to understand how you may be self-sabotaging and what to do about it.

  • You like to connect with nature or you want to connect more with nature

  • You want your projects to be more successful and sustainable

  • You want to find more balance in your life and / or work

This retreat is your chance to explore how you can use a version of the traditional Medicine Wheel as a map to navigate life transitions. The medicine wheel is an ancient map used by indigenous cultures around the world to understand the cycles in life and map them to the cycles found in nature. The wheel maps the full cycle of life, ideas, and projects from conception to death.

During the retreat, we will focus on how this version of the Medicine Wheel can help you develop awareness of how you normally show up in life, and allow you to mindfully reflect on whether that will serve you in the next phase of your life. The four stages of the cycle of life from stillness, to curious creativity, to active doing, to celebrating and enjoying and back to stillness are represented within the cycle of the wheel. The wheel allows you to have a practical map to reflect on and plan how you approach life.

The wheel also gives us a powerful insight into our own strengths and challenges at play in our life. It helps us recognise where we are self-sabotaging our success and wellbeing through our shadow qualities, and what we can do about it.

The central tenet of the wheel is mindfulness. Whatever place we are on the wheel we can connect with mindfulness and with something bigger than ourself. This allows us to take stock and understand how to balance ourselves and prepare for the next step at any stage or moment in our life.

The retreat will bring together a mix of theory, self-reflection, group discussion, gentle Qi Gong and other experiential practices.
